(PRWEB Los Gatos, CA --December 5, 2003 -- Americas love affair with classic board games may heat up this Christmas season with the arrival of something new within the crossword game genre. WildWords Game Companys first run, first edition game WildWords: The Crossword Game with a Wild Card rolls out this week into select California specialty, game, and bookstores.

Feedback from the independent shops has been optimistic about the new games marketability. Owners have called WildWords a breakout game: a game that redefines the way crossword games have been played in the past, stated inventor and WildWords Game Company president, Peter Roizen. In San Francisco, Cover To Cover Booksellers owner Tracy Wynne noted, It's a beautifully designed word gameWe are expecting it to do very well for the holiday season.

Because of the introduction of the wild asterisk tile that may be played to represent a single letter or any contiguous string of letters, any word in the dictionary can be played in WildWords. The game was created for all skill levels, but bluffing is another unique feature that can alter strategies for more sophisticated players.

WildWords has been several years in the making, debuting for the general public in a two-player internet version in 2001. This version came naturally to Roizen, whose expertise is in the software arena. He had already tasted some entrepreneurial success authoring the product T/Maker. But my dream has been to publish my brainchild, WildWords, as a quality board game for family play and for serious word-lovers and strategists, said Roizen. With this in mind, in 2002 Roizen gathered a team to package and produce WildWords in its present manifestation.

Regarding sales, WildWords team members Artisan Maureen Rasmussen and Navigator Denise Etchart Cooper noted, We expect this edition to be a collectors item in a few years. WildWords is an instant classic.
